Black Box
Black Box is a portable wireless network security testing tool, designed by John Ozbay to demonstrate weaknesses of standard WPA/WPA2 WiFi Encryption. It can crack WEP/WPA/WPA2 in 4 – 10 hours depending on the signal strength. Needless to say, this tool is made only to audit and test wireless network security, and is not intended for illegal usage. The entire purpose of this project is to demonstrate that current standardized encryption systems we rely on are weak.
how does black box work?
Black Box uses a RaspberryPi running the Pwn-Pi distribution, which comes with 200 pen-testing tools installed in it, including the great WPS brute-force attack tool Reaver. This makes the Black Box, a perfect WPA/WPA2 passphrase recovery tool. On average Black Box running Reaver will recover the target Access Point’s plain text WPA/WPA2 passphrase in 4-10 hours, depending on the signal strength and the access point.
what is black box made of?
Black Box, is the combination of three beautifully small technologies. It uses a Raspberry-Pi computer, an Alfa AWUS036H Antenna and a 2.8″ Adafruit piTFT Touchscreen. It also uses a RTL8192cu chipset USB Antenna for certain types of wireless attacks. It’s external shell is made of 3mm Acrylic layers, and its design is similar to raspberry-pi pibow cases
